It was a real privilege to interview my son, Jamie Eblen, not just because he’s my son and I’m obviously proud of his accomplishments, but because you can raise a kid and know about those accomplishments, but you don’t always know what’s in another person’s mind. This interview even gave me some insight into the journey that has been my son, from young drummer in Agoura Hills, CA to the Broadway stage and some of the moments that helped define his professionalism, his musical values and what prepared him for a world class job.

I think everyone will enjoy this engaging, in-depth interview with John J.R. Robinson that traces his beginnings in Iowa all the way up to his recent recording with Daft Punk. We cover his schooling at Berklee, beginnings with Rufus and Chaka, his work with the Academy Awards, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, the not so easy sessions and the highlights of his career. Academy Awards, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, the not so easy sessions and the highlights of his career.

In 1978 I sat down to do a rare interview with Bobby Colomby, the drummer of Blood, Sweat and Tears who along with Danny Seraphine of Chicago is known as the first two to combine jazz and rock music. Colomby's "Spinning Wheel," "God Bless the Child" and "You've Made me so Very Happy" was touted for its innovative drumming, but Colomby didn't remain in the band (although he owns the name) and chose the business side of music instead.

When Randy Castillo died at 51 years old, it was almost impossible to believe that the musical force who had worked with Lita Ford, Ozzy and Motley Crüe had passed away. Randy was not only a wonderful drummer, he was smart and someone people liked to be around. For those who knew Randy, I think you'll enjoy reminiscing with him in this interview. Those who didn't, I think you'll really enjoy getting to know him.

In November, 1980 I had the incredible opportunity to go down to Muscle Shoals to interview Roger Hawkins at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio where I got to hang out with him and the rest of the incredible rhythm section, David Hood, Jimmy Johnson and Barry Beckett. One of the fun stories is that one night we all drove up to the Tennessee state line to a club just to have some drinks...I couldn’t believe that we had to go to another state to get a drink! Being there was something I will never forget and somehow it felt like I was in the presence of magic.

The next time the round table convened, it was a slightly different group: Keltner, Krampf, Colaiuta, Porcaro and Marotta. You'll hear the radio on in the background...it seems to me someone or two asked for some sports game to stay on, so that's annoying. Who knew 20 years later I would be sharing these with the public?
